- Spotlight your assets. In 2012, decide on three ways to highlight your best feature. Then find three ways to highlight your next best feature. Repeat.
- Enjoy getting dressed. You can be famous for getting the job done, making a fabulous meal out of leftovers, creating a stunning Excel spreadsheet, and, in addition, being a beacon of beauty. Looking good makes everyone’s day more pleasant. Take an extra few minutes to get dressed and enjoy your creation.
- When it’s chilly outside, adorn yourself in something beautiful: a soft, luscious scarf, a favorite cape, or a pair of lovely gloves. Work some flair into your functional pieces and wake up your senses to color, texture, and design.
- Clean up your self-talk. Crush the urge to criticize your calves, find problems with your neck or put yourself last. Make a practice of saying nice things about yourself to yourself each day.
- Celebrate your actual age. Resist the temptation to worship youth. There’s no virtue in being 40 struggling to look 25. Beauty is accomplished through understanding. Be a proud version of you … at your age!
- Use magazines or mannequins for style inspiration. Avoid copying an entire look that was styled for viewing on a page, website or in a store. Try things on – lots of things – but bring home only those purchases that make your heart beat faster. Your style is your personal hybrid of favorite colors, fabrics, and accessories in a combination that says, “That is so you!”
- Think green. In respect to the environment, curb your “dry clean only” purchases. Check the care instructions before you splurge.
- Size matters. Wear clothes that aren’t too tight or too big, but just right. If you have clothes you love but the fit is bad, seek professional help. Otherwise, let them go and make room for great fitting clothes that you can’t wait to wear.
- Never reveal your sources! Unless of course they came from POSH !! Whether you purchased a jacket at a garage sale or you paid full price, when someone compliments you, say thank you, and keep the details to yourself. Mystery is a good thing!
- Don’t suffer over clothes. Call me at POSH and I’ll help you throughout the year – shaping up your style, maximizing your current wardrobe and helping you make smart purchases.
Remember: The best color is the one that looks good on you. Fashion changes but style endures. |
