Welcome to the Website

As the weather gets warmer it’s the time to start thinking about storing your special possessions, your fur garments. You should consider storing your furs in April or May and removing them around November when the weather begins to cool or whenever you wish to wear them.

POSH is the only fur storage facility in the San Joaquin Valley. POSH provides full services for your exquisite fur pieces, ranging from year round temperature controlled, low humidity storage, cleaning, alterations as well as remodeling or updating your garments to suit your lifestyle. A professional furrier is on staff to assist you with your special requests.
Since fur naturally traps particles and dirt, POSH recommends that your garment be cleaned once a year usually before storing it for the summer months or anytime the garment gets soiled. As part of the cleaning process at POSH essential conditioners are added back into the fur, making it look silky and new and helping it last longer.

Because many air conditioned homes have too much humidity in the air, it is not the best idea to store your garments at home if you wish to preserve the fine quality of your fur. Home storage often time causes the hide backing of the fur to dry out and crack. While at home, hang your fur on a broad-shouldered hanger insuring that it won't be crammed or crushed in the closet. Fur needs air and room to breathe, so please don't store your fur in a plastic bag. Plastic causes your fur to sweat and dry out. If you must cover it (when traveling or moving), use a cotton garment bag. Don't use mothballs or other mothproofing chemicals near a fur and please don't store it in a cedar chest -- both of these can remove humidity from the air and damage the fur. Never comb or brush the fur. If the fur is matted or seriously messy, please take it to a professional furrier, such as POSH or cleaner who specializes in fur.

When wearing fur, you can take steps to preserve its fine quality. Apply perfume and hairspray before putting on the fur so the alcohol in these products doesn't dry the pelt. Be careful to avoid friction and crushing, especially when wearing the coat in a car. Carrying a shoulder-strap purse and wearing jewelry pinned to your fur can also damage it. Also, to insure that small rips and tears don’t become larger problems, have them professionally repaired immediately.

Our cost for storing a fur is $64 per year, and for cleaning $65. When done together it is $89.50.

ST. JOHN UPDATE POSH is one of the few specialty stores that continue to stock ST. JOHN BLACK SANTANA. The company is now producing CAVIAR as the new black.
